    Intelligent Sensing Using Metal Oxide Semiconductor Based-on Support Vector Machine for Odor Classification

    Classifying odor in real experiment presents some challenges, especially the uncertainty of the odor concentration and dispersion that can lead to a difficulty in obtaining an accurate datasets. In this study, to enhance the accuracy, datasets arrangement based on MOS sensors parameters using SVM approach for odor classification is proposed. The sensors are tested to determine the sensors' time response, sensors' peak duration, sensors' sensitivity, and sensors' stability when applied to the various sources at different range. Three sources were used in experimental test, namely: ethanol, methanol, and acetone. The gas sensors characteristics are analyzed in open sampling method to see the sensors' performance in real situation. These performances are considered as the base of choosing the position in collecting the datasets. The sensors in dynamic experiment have average of precision of 93.8-97.0%, the accuracy 93.3-96.7%, and the recall 93.3-96.7%. This values indicates that the collected datasets can support the SVM in improving the intelligent sensing when conducting odor classification work

    Hand Contour Recognition In Language Signs Codes Using Shape Based Hand Gestures Methods

    The deaf and speech impaired are loosing of hearing ability followed by disability of developing talking skill in everyday communication.  Disability of making normal communication makes the deaf and speech impaired being difficult to be accepted by major normal community.  Communication used is gesture language, by using hand gesture communication. The weakness of this communication is that misunderstanding and limitation, it’s due to hand gesture is only understood by minor group.  To make effective communication in real time, it’s needed two ways communication that can change the code of hand gesture pattern to the texts and sounds that can be understood by other people. In this research, it’s focused on hand gesture recognition using shaped based hand algorithm where this method classifies image based on hand contour using hausdorff and Euclidian distance to determine the similarity between two hands based on the shortest range.  The result of this research is recognizing 26 letters gesture, the accuracy of this Gesture is 85%, from different human hands, taken from different session with different lighting condition and different range of camera from image.  It also can recognize 70% different hand contour.  The different of this research from other researches is the more the objects are, the less the classification of hands size is. Using this method, hands size can be minimized

    This paper discusses about the sub tasks of odor localization research. Three steps of odor localization, i.e. Plume finding, plume tracking/tracing, and source declaration are explained. The difficulty of plume finding is discussed. Farrell’s Filamentous and Pseudo-Gaussian plume models that have been analyzed by previous researcher are presented. Some approaches used in plume tracking/tracing based on advection/turbulent and the estimation of odors’ distribution are provided. The advantages of source declaration are showed. Some problems occur in plume finding become a great consideration for the future research

    Performance Evaluation on Applied Low-Cost Multi-Sensor Technology in Air Pollution Monitoring

    This research aims to discuss the application of multi-sensor network technology for the monitoring of indoor air pollution. Indoor air pollution has become a severe problem that affects public health, especially indoor parking. The indoor air pollution monitoring system will provide information about vehicle exhaust emission levels. We have improved the system to identify six parameters of the vehicles' gas emissions within a different location at once. This research aimed to measure the parameter of Carbon Monoxide (CO), Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Hydro Carbon (HC), temperature and humidity, and levels of particulates in the air (PM10). The performance of this system shows good ability to compare the results of measurements of air quality measuring professionals.  In this study, we investigated the performance of a custom-built prototype developed under the android-based application to detect air pollution levels in the parking area. Our objective was to evaluate the suitability of a low-cost multi-sensor network for monitoring air pollution in parking and the other area.  The benefit of our approach is that its time and space complexity make it valuable and efficient for real-time monitoring of air pollution. &nbsp

    Tuna rungu wicara merupakan kehilangan kemampuan mendengar yang disertai tidak mampu mengembangkan kemampuan bicaranya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari untuk melakukan komunikasi.Ketidakmampuan untuk berkomunikasi dengan normal membuat para penderita tuna rungu dan tuna wicara sulit untuk diterima dalam komunitas mayoritas normal.Sedangkan komunikasi yang digunakan adalah Sistem Isyarat Bahasa Indonesia (SIBI), dengan komunikasi isyarat menggunakan pergerakan tangan (Hand Gesture).Kelemahan jenis komunikasi ini adalah sering tejadi kesalapahaman dan keterbatasan, dikarenakan bahasa isyarat umumnya hanya dimengerti oleh kelompok minoritas. Untuk membantu melakukan komunikasi dengan efektif secara real time, maka perlu adanya alat komunikasi dua arah yang dapat digunakan untuk mengkodekan pola hand gesture menjadi teks, image dan suara supaya dapat dimengerti oleh semua orang. Dalam penelitian ini memfokuskan pada Hand Gesture Recognition menggunakan Algoritma Shape Based Hand dimana metode ini mengklasifikasikan image berdasarkan kontur tangan dengan menggunakan jarak Hausdorff dan jarak Euclidean, untuk menentukan tingkat kemiripan antara dua tangan berdasarkan jarak terpendek. Hasil dari pengujian ini dapat mengenali 26 huruf isyarat, tingkatakurasi pengenalan bahasa isyarat tangan 85%,pada image tangan orang yang berbeda, yang diambil pada sesi yang berbeda dengan kondisi pencahayan serta jarak image ke kamera. Serta dapat mengenali 70% kontur tangan yang berbeda dari sample yang diambil. Dengan menggunakan metode ini dibandingkan dengan penelitian lain, adalah semakin banyak jumlah objek (kontur tangan) yang digunakan, maka terdapat sedikit klasifikasi ukuran tangan. Sehingga dengan mengunakan metode ini ukuran tangan dapat diminimalisir, apabila menggunakan subjek yang banyak.Kata Kunci :kontur tangan, bahasa isyarat, metode shape based hand gesture, jarak Hausdorff, jarak Euclidean

    Littering Activities Monitoring using Image Processing

    Littering is a human behavior that become a habit since childhood. Even though there are rules that prohibit this behavior, the community still continues to do so. In order to limit this bad behavior, a device that can monitor and provide notifications is needed. In this research, a device is offered that can identify human activities in real time using webcam-based image processing. Then, it is processed by machine learning using the Recurrent Neural Network (RNN). The monitoring device produced in this research works by comparing the captured image data with a dataset. The captured image data will then be extracted features and form several coordinate points on the human body, then the system will classify these human activities into the category of normal activities or littering activities. This device will provide an output in the form of a warning every time the activity of littering is detected. &nbsp

    Robot Classifying of Gas using Support Vector Machine Method

    Fires often happen in the environment of industrial chemical plant caused by harmful gases. To minimize the incident that can be triggered by the gas it takes a tool capable of classifying gases are in the environment industry. The purpose of this research is to know the success in classifying gas on a fire that was triggered by the dangerous gases. We offer solutions in design and build a mobile robot that can classify objects contain hazardous gases by using the method of pattern recognition, the age of the SVM is still relatively young. Nevertheless, the advantages of SVM compared to another method lies in its ability to find the best hyperplane that separates the two class. Based on the results of testing data can classify SVM managed in accordance with the class. The degree of accuracy achieved SVM in classifying reached 86.66 %

    In this paper, the importance of odor localization isexplained. The researchers that investigated the experimentsand applications of odor localization using static sensors, mobilesensors (that were integrated in single robot, multi robot, andswarm robot) are described. However, there are some difficultiesfaced by the researchers in applying the mobile robots in the realsituation, such as: the speed of mobile robots are not as fast asthe odor patches transporting and the use of more than onesensor in mobile robot can make noises or errors. In the future,the plume finding in the uncertain environment and thechallenges mentioned above will be the authors’ consideration

This system was applied in real life and real time, to be able to obtain data and information through mobile devices and other on internet network. In this research, environmental application is monitored remotely using displays on the web and sensors as device.
